Become a member of the Summer 2022 RBC & Battlesnake Developer Fellowship Cohort

The RBC & Battlesnake Developer Fellowship is a collaborative initiative that supports women and non-binary developers from across Canada in taking the next step in their journey as a professional developer through Battlesnake.

Fellowship members gain access to:

  • One-on-one mentorship and career development support from industry professionals at Tech @ RBC.
  • A community of like-minded women and non-binary developers working to improve their skills. 
  • Bi-weekly networking and learning meetups to explore new technologies and build competitive Battlesnakes.
  • A ton of Battlesnake and RBC swag!

Eligibility Criteria*:

  • Woman or non-binary developer (includes but not limited to: non-binary, gender nonconforming, transgender, genderfluid, Intersex, Genderqueer, and Agender).
  • Currently living, working or studying in Canada.

At its core, the Fellowship is a small and focused learning community for women and non-binary developers across Canada that takes place over 6 weeks in Summer 2022.
10 spaces are available for the summer cohort.

How does the Fellowship work?Taking place during the 2022 Summer League competition, the Fellowship provides recipients with access to resources which can help them to explore new technologies, whether that be a new algorithm, a new hosting platform, or even Battlesnake itself! Supported by Mentors from the Battlesnake Community, and a small cohort of fellow women and non-binary developers from across Canada, this 6-week experience includes mentorship, meetups, and of course a whole lot of Battlesnake inspired fun!

Who is eligible to apply for the Fellowship?
The Developer Fellowship is open to any women and non-binary developers who are living, working or studying in Canada and who are looking to take their developer skills to the next level through access to an exceptional learning community.

Where do Fellowship MeetUps and Mentorship take place?All MeetUps and Events planned for the 2022 Developer Fellowship program will take place virtually.

How many Fellowships will be awarded?Up to 10 Fellowships will be awarded this summer, with the opportunity for future Fellowships in upcoming competitive seasons.

What is the time commitment?While there is no formal time commitment for Fellowship recipients, major offerings included as part of the Summer Cohort will take place between June 10th and July 30th* including Meetups, Mentorship Meetings and Watch Parties.

When does the Fellowship application period close?
The application period for the Summer Fellowship Cohort opens on May 3, 2022 and will close May 28th, 2022 at 11:59PM (PST)*

When will successful Fellowship recipients be notified?
Successful applicants will be notified via email during the week of June 10th*.

While there is no formal time commitment for Fellowship recipients, major offerings included as part of the Summer Cohort will take place between June 10th and July 30th* including Virtual Meetups, Mentorship Meetings and Watch Parties.
